Derek Grossman is the Founder and Chief Analyst of Indo-Pacific Solutions, LLC. He is also Professor of the Practice of Political Science and International Relations at the University of Southern California, where he teaches courses on Indo-Pacific security, U.S. foreign policy, and national security. He is an Adjunct Senior Fellow with the Center for a New American Security (CNAS) and a Fellow with the China Global South Project.
Prior to founding Indo-Pacific Solutions, Derek served as a Senior Defense Analyst at RAND and spent more than a decade in the U.S. Intelligence Community, including positions at the Defense Intelligence Agency, National Security Agency, and Central Intelligence Agency. His government service included providing intelligence support to senior defense leaders on critical issues affecting Asia and the Indo-Pacific.
A widely recognized expert on regional affairs, Derek is regularly featured by major international media outlets, including CNN, Bloomberg, NPR, and The Washington Post. His research and commentary have been published in numerous leading policy, security, and international affairs publications, helping decision-makers better understand the evolving strategic landscape of the Indo-Pacific.
